How To Set Up a Wipe-Clean Dry Erase Board
The set-up for this is unbelievably easy. Honestly, the longest part was finding matching stickers in the giant Christmas sticker book I bought, and that’s only because I had mommy-brain and literally could not see that the second set of matching stickers came after the fist set.
But anyway…
For this sticker match, I placed each pair of stickers randomly on my melamine tray.
Next, I covered the stickers and tray with contact paper.
And… that’s it!
Doing the Sticker Match Activity
Elena was so excited to be using a marker.
“This one’s for grown-ups!”
I simply asked her to help each sticker find their matching friend.
First, she drew a big circle around all the stickers…
Then she drew lines to match the stickers!
When she was done coloring it, I had her erase the lines with the eraser that came with the marker.
It doesn’t erase 100% cleanly. A little Windex and a cloth will do the trick if the faint lines bug you.
Elena didn’t care. She did her best. I helped her with the rest, and then she did the activity all over again.
The Clean-up
Elena stayed interested for about two days. She loved drawing with the marker and circling the stickers.
In my mind clean-up would be a breeze. Just peel the contact paper off.
The contact paper peeled off beautifully. Super easy. One of the many reasons why I love contact paper.
And half of the stickers came off with it.
By that I mean the tops of the stickers came off with the contact paper, but the bottoms stayed stuck on. 🙄
This activity reminded me how annoying it is to clean stickers off furniture. (Why do they make kids’ stickers SO sticky??!) After using almost exclusively using dot stickers, painter’s tape, washi tape, and contact paper, I got used to stickers peeling off cleanly.
Thankfully, little Goo Gone cleaned the sticker residue off.
So clean-up wasn’t as easy breezy as I hoped, but it didn’t take much effort thanks to the Goo Gone.
