So, you’re thinking about breastfeeding or maybe you’ve breastfed before and need a little refresher. Or maybe you know someone who’s about to need a whole lot of information on breastfeeding in a short amount of time.
This post is for you.
I’m reviewing The Ultimate Breastfeeding Class by Milkology founder Stacey Stewart.
I’ve taken three different breastfeeding classes before this one. The first was a video from the library, Medela’s Breastfeeding University, and an online class from our local hospital. All three of these were informative, but didn’t really get me excited to breastfeed or help me retain any information.
I barely made it through them, and one I didn’t even finish!
Now, I’ve gone through The Ultimate Breastfeeding Class a couple times, and I wish I’d known about it a few years ago.
- It’s waaay more fun than the three I’d previously done.
- It’s super informative for new moms.
- It explains what it’s like to breastfeed in the first days, weeks, and months of baby’s life.
- It emphasizes the things that are key for breastfeeding success: finding support, accurate information, and understanding supply and demand.
As a mom who has breastfed two babies with completely different feeding habits, I can confidently stand behind the information in The Ultimate Breastfeeding Class! Read more about my breastfeeding experience in this post.
Why should you consider enrolling in a breastfeeding class?
- You’re pregnant and deciding if breastfeeding is right for you.
- Your due date is almost here and you haven’t done a breastfeeding class yet!
- You’re worried that you’ll do it all wrong.
- You want to succeed with breastfeeding.
- You don’t know what to expect with breastfeeding.
- You have a newborn and you’re panicking about everything!
- You want to feel empowered about breastfeeding.
- You’ve spent way too many hours googling answers.
- You’re a smart mom who wants to get smarter.
- You want to get dad involved, too.
Is a Breastfeeding Class Worth It?
On a serious note, I truly believe that one of the greatest barriers to achieving your lactation goals is a lack of education. Even if you’re not sure if breastfeeding is right for you, you need to be informed.
When I first started breastfeeding, I had no clue what I was in for.
- I couldn’t tell if my baby was swallowing anything.
- I worried that she wasn’t getting enough milk.
- I struggled to get over an ounce of milk when I pumped.
- I didn’t know when/how to start pumping and bottle-feeding.
Breastfeeding is a natural process, but it is not easy! It’s a skill that needs to be developed through practice and persistence.
Having the right information will help you develop that skill so much faster!

A breastfeeding class is like taking a driver’s ed class. You learn the rules of the road before you get behind the wheel and drive. If you don’t, you just might crash.
So, you smart mom, you. Are you ready to learn the rules of the road and speed your way to breastfeeding success?
Here’s why I think you’ll love The Ultimate Breastfeeding Class by Milkology.
Top 5 Reasons to Take The Ultimate Breastfeeding Class by Milkology
1. It’s all online. (Pajamas optional.)
I am an introvert. If someone were to suggest taking a breastfeeding class with real live people in it, I would be hiding under a blanket. No thanks.
Online classes are where it’s at.
Give me an online class that I can watch during dinner, in the bath, or on a long commute any day of the week.
2. you pick how much you want to watch and when.
It can feel like you have less and less time and energy the longer you’re pregnant. This whole breastfeeding course is under 90 minutes from start to finish.
Plus, The Ultimate Breastfeeding Class is self-paced and is available to you for life. You can watch and re-watch these videos whenever and however many times as you want.
Once you start breastfeeding, you’ll have more questions or need a refresher. It’s great to have a resource like Milkology to refer back to whenever you want.
Milkology’s breastfeeding class contains 13 quality videos ranging from 3 to 11 minutes long. Each video is jam-packed with helpful information about every aspect of breastfeeding.
3. The Ultimate Breastfeeding Class is comprehensive.
Milkology was founded by Stacey Stewart, a Certified Lactation Educator, so you know she knows her stuff.
You will learn
- the science behind breastmilk,
- latching and positioning,
- mastering your milk supply,
- how to tell if baby is eating enough,
- what to expect in your first few hours, days, and weeks with baby,
- weaning,
- and so much more.
But don’t worry if you can’t absorb all the info. The Master Class Notes include everything covered in the videos and are available for download with the class. (Warning: It’s 11 pages long. I told you this class was comprehensive!)
Preview the course curriculum here.
Milkology also gives really great tips on breastfeeding, which you might not come across in other sources.
One of the bonus items in this course is The Little Black Book of Breastfeeding Secrets which has over 50 tips. My favorite tip?
“If you’re bottle feeding on the go, you can heat up breast milk by putting the bottle in a travel mug.”
We did this. It’s pure genius!
One thing that wasn’t covered in the class was troubleshooting common breastfeeding problems such as thrush, oversupply, and sore nipples. Instead, Stacey includes this in a troubleshooting guide that you can print out for reference.
4. and, She has cute graphics to keep you (and dad!) engaged.
I’ve tried three different breastfeeding classes. An old video from the library (great if you need a laugh, bad if you want to learn something), a class at the hospital (only available for 24 hours unfortunately), and one from Medela. I struggled to get through these classes.
Milkology was different. It’s cute, it’s modern and fresh, and it’s fun.
You aren’t sitting there watching someone talk to you through a screen. You’re looking at helpful graphics, charts, engaging pictures, or short video clips.
The graphics and quotes made me smile and kept me engaged and learning.
Get Dad Involved with Breastfeeding, Right from the Start
I encourage you, no matter what breastfeeding class you ultimately decide on, to watch it with your spouse or partner. They need to know what you’ll be going through and what you and baby will be needing so that they can support you.
My husband struggled to feel involved in our newborn’s life because he felt like he couldn’t help with breastfeeding, which was something our newborn did a lot!
Going through a breastfeeding class together is a great way to help dad get involved in baby’s life even before baby is born.
Plus, if you do an online class, you can turn it into a date night with a little popcorn and sparkling juice!
5. There’s even a section on pumping!
Wait, I thought this was a breastfeeding class?
Well, some women can do the breastfeeding thing and never have to pump. But the rest of us can’t.
With my first baby, pumping was necessary to help get rid of plugged ducts and allow me to have a night out.
Pumping is one of those things that you need to learn about if you plan on breastfeeding. Milkology’s Ultimate Breastfeeding Class gives great tips on power pumping and milk storage (which can be a confusing topic!).
I do wish it was covered a tiny bit more. For instance, how to make sure the pump fits properly and how to build a freezer stash. Unfortunately the breastfeeding class does not do this, but the pumping class does!
Milkology offers a pumping class as well, and I know these topics are well covered there. If you already know you’re going to be pumping a lot, check out The Ultimate Back to Work Pumping Class.
But, what is this class going to cost me?
Great products are rarely free. The good news is that this breastfeeding class costs less than a date night at the movies. Unless of course, you’re going to the dollar theater…
The best part is: there’s a money-back guarantee. These are like the magic words for me if I’m on the fence about something.
That and “free shipping.”
If you didn’t find what you were looking for, Milkology will give you your money back. So there’s absolutely no risk to taking this class.
Of course, I understand that for some, $19 is still a lot to spend on a 90-minute class.
After all, you can do what I did and look for free breastfeeding classes at your local hospital or at your library. You can also check with the manufacturer of your breast pump to see if they offer a class.
You can also do a deep dive into the Internet and find all the answers to your questions, and try to figure it all out by yourself, but I don’t recommend this. It’s hard to know who to trust, and if you’re like me, then you’ll get sidetracked and fall into a rabbit hole of tangents and five hours later realize you never actually found what you were looking for in the first place!
If you just want free stuff, you can check out the freebies and additional resources on Milkology’s site. Millkology offers a free 5 day breastfeeding email course which is a nice little preview of the full class.
But if you’re ready to take the plunge and become a breastfeeding sensei, then The Ultimate Breastfeeding Course is for you!
