This tape web game is one I keep in my back pocket for those times when I need a quick activity to entertain the kids.
Any type of masking tape works for this tape web game, but washi tape is my favorite because it’s so colorful and pretty.

Ben usually keeps the girls busy while I make dinner, but sometimes he’s not home in time.
You know how it is.
On this particular day, the kids were already hungry when I started getting dinner ready, but I didn’t want to feed them or they wouldn’t eat dinner.
When the kids are tired or hungry or needy, they just start orbiting around me.
Every time I turn around someone is right there in my path.
It makes it so hard to get anywhere. Like literally walk somewhere.
And when they do this while I’m in the kitchen with knives and hot pans? It’s just hazardous.
So this is when I turn to a quick activity or game to keep them busy and away form the kitchen.
How to Set Up the Tape Web Game
Have you ever played Pick Up Sticks? That game where you drop a handful of sticks on the floor in a pile and take turns picking one up without moving any of the others?
This tape web slightly reminds me of that game.
The goal is to peel each strip of tape off the floor without removing any of the others.

Elena loved this game, and it was so simple to set up.
All you do is stick random strips of tape over each other in a web. Try to space them out a little so each strip is only covered by one or two other strips of tape.
The more strips of tape you use, the harder the game will be.

The Tape We used
I really like using washi tape because it peels off very easily, is repositionable, and comes in so many pretty colors and patterns.
The one we used for this activity is this solid colored set in every color of the rainbow.
Colored masking tape also works. We have this set which is wider than the washi tape we used, but also a little more versatile because it is wider.
Playing the Tape Web Game with Babies

With a few modifications, our youngest (9 months in this pic) could get in on the game, too!
I used fewer strips of tape, and I folded the edges under to give her a tab to pull rather than having her use her nails to try to peel the edges off the floor.

Your Turn to Play the Tape Web Game
This was such a nice, quick, easy-to-set-up game for the girls to do while I prepped dinner. I hope your kids will enjoy it, too!
