I’m so excited to share this edible pudding slime recipe with you today because… for the very first time… we have a VIDEO OF IT!
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
And we couldn’t have chosen a better activity for our video debut.
We had such a blast making pudding slime as a family, and I hope you will, too!
Playing with slime is one of those activities that appeals to any age, so I think it makes a great family activity.
It’s definitely more exciting than another family movie night.
WHY Edible Pudding Slime So Great for Kids (& Parents)
I’ve been wanting to share this edible pudding slime recipe with you all because 1) it’s. edible. slime. duh, 2) it uses pantry ingredients, 3) it’s incredibly easy to make.
Like so easy a toddler could do it.
A few more reasons this edible pudding slime has been highly rated at our house:
- Baby can safely play with it;
- I can pick up all the ingredients on my normal grocery run;
- It’s green and gross-looking, but smells incredible;
- Playing with slime strengthens fine motor muscles.
I can’t wait for you to try it.
Check it out.
How to Make Edible Pudding Slime
For this activity, you’ll need:
- pudding mix,
- cornstarch,
- water,
- mixing bowl,
- spatula.
We used pistachio pudding mix which, I didn’t realize until we opened the packet, had little pistachio pieces in it. But Elena didn’t seem to mind! It was actually easier to explain what “pistachios” are.
I thought the green pistachio pudding would look the most slime-like (and I was right), but you could also use vanilla and simply dye it with food coloring. Just add food coloring to your water before mixing the ingredients together.
(Also be aware that using food coloring could stain your hands.)

Edible Pudding Slime
How to make edible pudding slime that's stretchy, soft, taste-safe, and smells great
- 1 pudding packet ((about 1/2 cup of powder))
- 2 cups cornstarch ((plus more as needed))
- 2/3 cup warm water
Mix the pudding powder and 1 cup of cornstarch together in a large bowl, making sure to break up any large clumps.
Stir in the warm water. Keep mixing until it forms a sticky dough.
Add the remaining cup of cornstarch and stir with a spatula until it starts to get less sticky.
Dump out the slime and knead. Sprinkle more cornstarch a tablespoon at a time until the slime is no longer sticky, but is doughy and stretchy.
Safety Tips
- Have everybody wash their hands before making and playing with edible slime.
- Don’t actually eat this slime for lunch. Or dinner. Or breakfast. Or dessert.
- Cornstarch will make the floor slippery. Use caution!
- Play with the slime on a silicone baking mat, or tape a large sheet of wax paper to the table for easy clean up.
How Long Will This Slime Last?
After the girls were finished playing, I stored the slime in a zip-top plastic bag.
It was even more goopy and fun to play with the next day. (Translation: messy and sticky)
Definitely add more cornstarch for Day 2.
We tossed ours out after Day 3 because I was super grossed out thinking about my baby trying to eat the slime on the third day.

Hi Karen,
Again, thank you for inspiring me to play with my toddler! I’m also a blogger and admittedly spend too much time working and watching my child play by herself. Because of your 5-day bootcamp, I had a plan to get involved and step away from work to be engaged in nourishing her inquisitive toddler spirit.
I’m going to try this slime recipe this week!

Elizabeth, I know all too well what it’s like to be all work and no play. I’m glad the 5-day bootcamp helped you get started with playing with your daughter. Any time we spend engaging and nourishing our kids is an investment in their future and in our relationships with them. Also, thank you for sharing your feedback on the bootcamp! We’ve been working hard to revamp our 5-day bootcamp to make it even better. We just put it out and now all the activities have videos on it (woohoo!) and are on a totally new platform. There are some new activities this time, but some of them will be the same that you just did. If you want to check it out, here’s the link. I hope it makes it easier to try new things with your little one!
