This tricky kid’s craft is done upside down and then turned over to reveal the beautiful Easter egg design.
The whole craft is pretty simple and turns out really cute!
To make this Easter egg craft you’ll need:
- scissors
- glue
- solid and patterned paper
- crayons or markers
How We Did This Peek-a-Boo Paper Egg Craft
I used a paper cutter to cut 12″ scrapbook paper into strips of random widths. Then I cut them in half to make 6″ long strips.
Our strips were nearly too short to cover the egg, so I would suggest cutting 8″ strips to go across a standard 8.5″x11″ sheet of paper.
While I did that, Elena traced around a cardboard egg stencil I cut out earlier. This part is optional.
We used cardstock for this craft because we were out of all the pretty colors of construction paper!
Next, I cut out the middle of the paper to make an egg-shaped hole.
Elena glued strips of paper upside down to cover the hole.
Sidenote: She insisted on wearing a single white glove all day. No idea why, but just so you know, the glove is not crucial to doing this craft.
Then we flipped the paper over to reveal a beautifully decorated egg!
Elena helped me write Happy Easter on the front. I say this so you won’t judge my handwriting too harshly.
Will You Try This Easter Egg Craft?
Try this craft using all different colors and patterns of paper. Maybe make a rainbow egg, or recycle used sheets of paper or old artwork and cut that into strips.
