Our oldest just turned TWO!
You guys, I’m in shock.
She is obsessed with Doc McStuffins, so we HAD to do a Doc inspired birthday party.
I’ve also been wanting to do a tea party lately, so I decided to do a party theme mash-up of Doc McStuffins and a fancy tea party.

PARTY ACTIVITIES
We had a mix of different ages coming, but half of the kids were between 2 and 4, so I thought a Doc McStuffins Toy Hospital role play would be the most interesting (and hands off for parents!) activity for them to do.
I wrote a post that is a spin off of this Toy Hospital role play with did with 5 toddlers at the party! Check it out HERE!
We put three or four square side tables to create one giant kids table, then we covered that with a plastic tablecloth.
I set out a tray with toy check-up tools, DIY stethoscopes, DIY heart bandages, DIY Book of BooBoos’, measuring tape, a magnifying glass, a few jumbo crayons, and check-up checklists I printed off the Disney Jr. site.
The stethoscopes, Book of BooBoos, and heart bandages all doubled as party favors. Check out THIS POST for instructions on how to make your own.
Printable Coloring Pages
Disney Jr. has a bunch of great Doc printables and coloring pages. I printed a few of those too and had them out on the dining table with colored pencils for the older kids to color.
DIY Doc McStuffins Scavenger Hunt List
I also made a Doc scavenger hunt that I thought would work well for the older and littler kids. Using good ol’ Microsoft Word, I inserted clip art and images of characters and party items and put them into a list.
The last item you have to find for the scavenger hunt is “a two-year-old” with a picture of Ella, the birthday girl. That one was my favorite!
Jelly Bean Pill Game
Ben came up with a quick game for the older kids. We colored a page for four of the Doc characters: Chilly, Lambie, Hallie, and Stuffy, and gave them all “illnesses” that were cured by colored “pills” drawn on the page.
We cut different colored jelly beans in half and gave each kid a baggie with the halves. They had to make the pill shown on each page and drop it in the tray beneath the character to cure them and get a prize.
PARTY FOOD
Our menu was both Doc-themed and fancy tea party-inspired. I found it worked great for both kids and their parents!
Our Menu
- Hallie’s Lavender Hippo Paws (lavender macarons)
- Lambie’s Baa-utiful Lemon Madeleines
- Stuffy’s Tower of Stuffwiches (three kinds of sandwiches: Cucumber Cream Cheese, PBJ, and Turkey and Provolone)
- Sir Kirby’s Royal Tarts (mini fruit tarts)
- Doc McStuffins’ Egg Muffins (crustless quiches with ham and cheese)
- Chilly’s Chilled Tea
The cake was a pull-apart cupcake cake frosted to look like the stethoscope and heart bandage. Make sure to double your frosting recipe if you make a similar style of cake. Doing three different colors made me run out at the end. 🙁
Thankfully, we had enough pink jelly beans left from our pill-making game to save the day!
If you’re wondering where I got my lavender macarons, my mom actually made them!
God really blessed me with an amazing mom who can bake beautiful and delicious treats. She made all the fancy stuff. I just did the sandwiches 🙂
DECORATIONS
I kept the decor very simple because 1) I didn’t have big budget; and 2) I’m just not a big fan of kids’ party decor in general.
So I made my own Happy Birthday banner in teal, purple, and pink, and matching paper chain for the fireplace, and I just put some fresh flowers in little vases and teapots to go next to the food.
I also made and printed little character signs on Word to go with the food. I almost didn’t do that because it was hard coming up with Doc McStuffins-themed food, but there wasn’t quite enough Doc decorations to make it feel like a themed party.
I’m glad I made them because it also helped from me having to explain what everything was ;-P
I had picked up purple and white striped paper plates (like Doc’s shirt), but found cute floral and striped paper plates and napkins at Hobby Lobby for 50% off (woohoo!), so I went with that since it went with the rest of the decor a little better.
I wish I could’ve gotten little plastic tea cups, but my budget was stretched pretty thin at that point, so I just went with the good old clear plastic cups we already had.
My favorite party decor item is the “The Doc Is In” sign I made. I found an image of Doc’s sign and added the words “The Doc Is In” on Word, printed it on cream cardstock and glued it to some cardboard. A piece of string glued to the top allowed me to hang it on our front door.
The sign currently lives on Ella’s bedroom door. She turns it over everytime she goes into her room and says, “The Doc is in.” Adoooorable!
This party was a lot of work because I did so many DIY things, but I was able to make it all waaay before the party day. Because I DIYed so many things, I saved a ton of money using things I already had and made things match.
The best part was that everyone (stuffed and not stuffed!) who came got a free check-up.
