It’s tough to find good, screen-free toddler entertainment. Crafts like this one are just one thing that helps me make that screen-free time last. Plus, I usually can get a few little tasks done. Even if that task is to just finish my cup of coffee while it’s still hot!
Contact paper is a must-have if you don’t want to mess with glue. You can find us making sticky walls, sticky windows, and sticky tables all over the house.
Set-up is a breeze. Just tape the contact paper up.
Clean up is easy, too. Just crumple it all up (everything will stick together nicely) and toss it in the trash.
But today, I want to share one easy, cute craft we did with contact paper and that’s a contact paper suncatcher.

To make this colorful little suncatcher, you’ll need:
- contact paper,
- tissue paper (the more colors, the better),
- tape,
- scissors,
- a pen,
- yarn or string,
- a bowl
First, cut a small rectangular piece of contact paper and peel off the backing.
Tape the contact paper down to the table (which I didn’t do in the photo, but it’ll help keep the contact paper from moving around).
Cut the tissue paper up into little squares.
Carefully place the tissue paper onto the contact paper.
Or sprinkle it about haphazardly. Totally fine, too.
Next, fold the contact paper in half so both sticky sides meet in the middle, essentially laminating your design.
Or if you decorated the whole piece, cut a second piece of contact paper and place it on top of your design.
Grab a bowl and a pen and trace a circle on the contact paper.
Any shape really can be used. I just chose a circle so I wouldn’t have to draw anything.
Cut out the circle and tape a loop of string onto it.
Voila, a suncatcher.
Now if I could just get the sun to shine a little bit more today, that’d be great.
