Sometimes all you need is a cute title for a super simple activity to get the kids (and yourself!) motivated to do an activity.
Bubble Soup is one of the kids’ favorites. It’s one of mine, too because it’s so quick to do and clean up that I have no excuse to turn off the TV and get the kids playing.
How to Set Up Bubble Soup
For this sensory bin, you’ll need:
- plastic bin
- water
- food coloring (optional)
- dish soap OR tear-free bubble bath
- slotted spoons (makes more bubbles this way)
- little bowls
- a big towel
In the plastic bin, put water, dish soap (or tear-free bubble bath), and two drops of food coloring (if using).
Put the bubble soup sensory bin on top of a large towel.
Hand each kid a slotted spoon and a little bowl.
Soups on!
Playing with Bubble Soup
Bubbles are my kids favorite things.
The girls stirred the soup. They scooped bubbles out of the sensory bin and put them in their little bowls.
Lia has been fascinated with bubbles ever since she turned one a few months ago. She kept scooping the bubbles up with her hand and saying, “Bubble” in the cutest little voice over and over again.
Our bubble soup had a few googly eyes in it as I was trying to clean up a slime monster sensory bag we did a couple days ago.
Elena loved scooping them out of the soup, and it was challenging for her because the eyes were hidden under the bubbles.
Surprisingly, Elena (3-years-old) was done playing before Lia. Lia kept going on and on for several minutes after Elena got cleaned up.
Soon after, it was nap time, so I was able to take a good, long break and get refreshed for the second half of the day.
Your Turn to Make Bubble Soup
This is one of my go-to activities when I’m tired, feeling down, or just need a break from the kids running around and asking millions of questions.
It’s so easy to make bubble soup, and the kids will love it.
Our kids didn’t try to dump the whole bin out (I like to think it’s because they were having too much fun), but if you’re worried yours will, just use a smaller bin and a smaller amount of water.
Also, don’t forget that big towel. 🙂
