Did you ever play parachute in gym class? Classic, right??
I thought about buying one, but it just seems ridiculous for two people to play, and I have no idea what else to do with it.
Use it as an actual parachute, perhaps?
No freaking way.
Anyway, I was folding laundry one day (the most tedious chore in the WORLD!), and Ella was walking by, minding her own business.
I gently floated a bedsheet (flat not fitted!) over her head and then snapped it back up. She loved that!
“More? More?”
This was how bedsheet parachute was born.
How We Played with a Bedsheet Parachute
Two squeals and one giggle later, hubby joined in. He took one end, and I took the other, while Ella grabbed on wherever.
We crouched down low and all counted to three.
Whoosh and snap!
At the count of three, we all stood, raised the sheet over our heads, and snapped it back down. So fun!
We tried to get Ella to run underneath and through to the other side, but she kept stopping in the middle.
Maybe she got disoriented?
I don’t know. She had fun with whatever she was doing.
Making Snowmen Fly
Then I grabbed a stuffed snowman (Chilly) and put him in the middle of the sheet.
“Want to make Chilly fly?”
“Okay!” (Okay always means yes! in Ella-speak)
“One. Two. Three!”
Snowman flew up and landed on the floor.

Then Ella got concerned that the poor snowman was hurt, so we swapped the snowman for a ball.
That worked out much better, except we still couldn’t catch the ball. It’s a little hard to catch when one of your fellow parachuters stays locked in place.
This simple game takes no set up, costs nothing, and is a great way to work on those gross motor skills.
Bedsheet Parachute with Baby!
Baby wanted to join in, too. I spread a blanket on the floor and put baby down.
Of course, Ella wanted to lie down next to her, and Chilly had to come too.
And they were so cute, so I definitely had to get the camera out!
Ben gently lowered the sheet over the girls and then lifted it back up quickly.
The girls LOVED it!
Baby especially! I don’t have a single shot where she doesn’t have a huge smile on her sweet little face!
Bedsheet Chariot
While we had the bedsheet out, Ella begged for a ride on it. Ben (the aforementioned hubby) held one end of the sheet and Ella sat on the other end like a chariot driver and got pulled all over the house.
She had a great time, and Ben got a great workout, which he needed loved, I’m sure.
