When Should You Go Strawberry Picking?
The best time to go strawberry picking is in early to mid June. Depending on the weather, you can sometimes see ripened strawberries ready the last week in May, and the harvest season will sometimes stretch to the end of June.

Strawberry Farms in Indianapolis
Waterman’s Family Farm
The Waterman’s Family Farm has 2 locations, with the Indianapolis farm found on the southeast side of Indy. Strawberries are usually ready from June 1st- June 20th. Enjoy picking your own strawberries or enjoy the farm’s market where you can buy pre-picked fresh produce as well. The farm also usually hosts a Strawberry Jam Festival where visitors can enjoy music, playground, petting zoo, and even sometimes play strawberry bowling.
Driving Wind Berry Farm
Located on the north side of Indy, Driving Wind Berry Farm offers U-pick strawberries and blueberries. Be sure to check out their homemade blueberry ice cream, frozen pies, local honey and more at their farm stand. Kids may even get the opportunity to see some of their farm animals which can include a horse, donkey, and chickens. Open from 8a-2p Monday through Friday.
Distelrath Farms
Located on the southeast side of Indy, if you would like to pick strawberries there, you need to make an appointment. Using organic growing methods, this farm takes pride in its natural techniques to cultivate its produce as well as its livestock.

Spencer Farm
Spencer Farm is located on the southeast side of Noblesville just west of the White River. Enjoy walking the farm and picking their delicious strawberries, which usually start to ripen at the end of May. Check out all of their farm produce.While you’re there, your family will love the Sweet Shop where you can buy fruit pies and hand dipped ice cream cones to cool off on a hot June day.
Fields of Joy
Located in Anderson, IN, Fields of Joy produces, strawberries, fruit trees, fresh eggs and other garden vegetables on their farm. And yes! Of course you can pick your own strawberries (or buy them fresh-picked). Open Monday through Saturday 7a-7p.
Bell’s Strawberry Farm
Just a mile west of Hagerstown, Indiana, Bell’s Strawberry Farm is open 9a-7p Monday through Saturday. They encourage you to bring the whole family and create new memories together as they share their farm (they just ask you to leave your pets at home). With lots of big shade tress and a swing set, visitors are invited to pack a picnic lunch and make strawberry picking a day-long adventure.
Smith Farms
Just a little over 45 minutes northwest of Indianapolis, you’ll find a beautiful farm in Smith Farms. Come first for the strawberry picking, but don’t forget about their peaches, blackberries, raspberries, apples, and pumpkins which you can pick as well.
Landess Farm
Nothing’s better than a fresh, juicy red strawberry except maybe 5 acres of fresh, juicy red strawberries! Landess Farm is located in Daleville and offers both U-pick and we-pick strawberries for families. The highlight of summer is the farm’s annual Strawberry Festival held mid-June. Families can participate in wagon rides, face painting, games, and sample sweet strawberry-filled treats. Come back in September for mums, pumpkins, apple cider, and other “Fall Fixins.”
