To make these kits you’ll need:
- Plastic bead/jewelry organizer
- Mini tongs (exact ones we have in this Play-Doh kit)
- Construction paper
- Small magnetic letters and numbers
- Any small manipulatives (rocks, pom poms, dyed pasta, buttons, gems, etc.)
Letter (or Number) Matching Kit
Cut construction paper into small rectangles to fit in each compartment of the organizer box. Write the letters or numbers you want your child to sort/match.
Fill the largest compartment with your letters or numbers.
Adding a magnetic backing to the lid would be so perfect for this activity kit as well!
Counting Kit
On the paper rectangles, write numbers that your child knows. Add several small manipulatives to the empty compartments. We used small rocks and shells.
Have your child count out manipulatives and place them in the appropriate boxes.
Graphing Kit
Preschoolers are totally able to start graphing! Wild. I know.
Turn your sorting kit into a graphing kit simply by placing the different objects in a line instead of all in one compartment. Now you have a simple bar graph!
Once all the pieces are graphed, count them.
How many of each do you have? Write the number somewhere if you want to get fancy.
